One of the most important lessons I learned as a “pre-entrepreneur” was this:
The first sale is to yourself.
To this day, I think about that line often. Here’s why:
I believe there are three things you’ll need if you’re going to make it as a personal brand business (and they go in this order):
- Mindset
- Message
- Marketing
Perhaps you joined my newsletter because you thought, “Mike Kim can teach me something about marketing, or help me hone my message.” I can definitely help in those areas, but the one thing I can’t do is change your mindset.
