From January 15-16, 2010 I’ll be leading worship and sharing a workshop at the Youth Leader’s Summit in Lima, NY (near Rochester) a conference for youth pastors and leaders put together by my friend Mark Scorsone. It’s a special time where leaders of youth and young adults ministries can come to be refreshed, inspired, and link arms with co-laborers. The conference is short and sweet, costs are dirt-cheap, there are lots of giveaways, and as any person that has attended the conference in the past will tell you, there is nothing like leaving the flock at home and getting away with other youth leaders to seek God, hangout, and encourage each other. Totally awesome.
During the conference Mark has asked me to give a workshop on youth worship/music ministry. So through the magic of social networking sites, I’m presenting this blog to ask pastors/leaders what the big issues are in the worship department…of your youth department. Pastoring youth is difficult in itself. Throw into the equation that we’re giving a very visible and significant portion of our services to young people to lead other young people (and in some churches the main congregation) in worship all while facing the challenges of adolescence…it’s definitely worth talking about. So youth pastors/leaders (even if you can’t attend the conference)…chime in with your questions and issues! Comment here or email me at mikekimmusic@gmail.com if you want to keep it private (or need to exceed the character limit). Looking forward to talking in January.
