Client Projects:
This section will feature projects done with larger organizations. While I’ve had numerous small business clients, these should provide a glimpse into the pedigree of my work.
John Maxwell Team:
John Maxwell is a widely respected, best-selling author on the topics of leadership and self development. I was hired for an on-site six-month project to re-tool the brand messaging for their coaching certification program, which generates $25M annually in revenue.
I re-tooled their online lead generation, launched their top-rated podcast, content marketing, re-wrote their homepage, and provided art direction for their website redesign. We cut significant costs on Facebook and Google Ad spend, which were upwards of $70,000 a month, down to $33,000 while nearly doubling their leads. You can check a quick website re-brand here:
StoryBrand & Donald Miller:
Donald Miller is the founder and CEO of StoryBrand, a marketing consultancy based in Nashville. Don is also a best-selling author of books like Blue Like Jazz and Scary Close. Don hired me to help him write his bestselling book, Building A StoryBrand: Clarify Your Message So Customers Will Listen. The book has gone on to be a New York Times bestseller and was the foundation for further expansion into the marketing niche.
On a follow-up project, StoryBrand contracted me to write the sales copy for one of their premier courses, The StoryBrand Marketing Roadmap. This campaign brought in over $500,000 in sales.
Catalyst:
Catalyst is a training organization that equips church leaders. In 2017, they hired me to help them boost sales and attendance for their flagship conference in Atlanta.
Our project centered on first re-engaging their existing email list, then growing the email list through organic social media traffic leveraging Catalyst’s brand equity. We initiated a “Catalyst Insider” list to re-engage their followers and leverage their archives of content (which did not tax their marketing team by requiring them to create new content).
One of the highlights of the campaign was requesting users to send in their “Catalyst Story” — a testimonial video that the video team re-purposed into a Facebook post. The post was shared organically several hundred times and resulted in 21,000 organic views.
This strategy of re-engaging their existing list and followers help boost attendance at the Atlanta conference by 12.3%, resulting in several hundred thousands of dollars of additional revenue and shaping their future marketing campaigns.
Desert Financial:
Desert Financial is a $4B federally insured and chartered credit union based in Phoenix, Arizona, that operates 47 branches and service centers throughout Gila, Maricopa, and Pinal counties in Arizona.
Our project involved two phases spread out over six months and was centered on a re-brand for the entire company. The organization went from being known as Desert Schools Financial (which confused the market because people thought they were a school) to Desert Financial.
The first phase of the project involved internal communications. We created a full internal launch campaign that consisted of three pieces of content: opportunity, transformation, ownership. We helped the CEO script the videos as the campaign was rolled out internally.
The second phase of the project involved training the entire senior executive team so they could roll out the re-brand to their respective departments.
The final result was a highly successful ad campaign that blitzed the entire Phoenix valley with the rebrand. The internal rollout culminated with a gathering of 2,000 Desert Financial employees meeting in an arena to announce the changes.
The market rollout featured new billboards, branding, and a one-minute Super Bowl commercial featuring local Phoenix resident Alice Cooper announcing the changes.

My Own Projects:
These are projects my team has done for my own business.
You Are the Brand Book
I spearheaded the launch for my own book, You Are the Brand, which went on to become a Wall St. Journal and USA Today bestseller and 330+ global reviews on Amazon.
The marketing strategy included 50+ podcast interviews with the goal of reaching an audience of over 1M total listeners, as well as partnerships with email databases with over 1M subscribers. The launch plan also included four free webinar series to teach ancillary topics to the book, as well as bulk buy purchase order bonuses resulting in organic email list growth of over 2,000.
